ABOUT THE AWARDS

We are thrilled to announce the 10th annual Gee Fair Education Awards taking place on the 16th of March 2024 – whether you’re a supplier, teacher or anyone in education this is your opportunity to celebrate excellence in the education industry.

WHAT ARE THE AWARDS?

The awards highlight and reward the quality and diversity of educational products, resources, services and people as well as the best educational establishments and the most dedicated members of the teaching profession. The Gee Fair Education Awards aim to encourage the raising of educational services & product standards throughout the industry and aims to be recognised throughout the sector as the accolade of excellence.

WHAT ARE THE CATEGORIES?

The awards are broken down into two sections those for Suppliers and/or distributors and those for Teachers, Schools and Educational Professionals.

AWARDS CEREMONY

Our annual gala dinner will return in 2024 and the evening will feature a 3 course meal, entertainment, the announcement of the winners and a perfect opportunity to network with fellow industry professionals and education community members.

WHEN WILL THE AWARDS BE ANNOUNCED?

The gala event, which will be open to anyone who wishes to attend will include a pre-dinner drinks reception, 3 course dinner including beverages, awards presentation ceremony and entertainment. You may not win an award but we hope that the evening will not only provide excellent networking opportunities but will also be an unforgettable experience. The winners will be announced at the gala dinner.

GUIDELINES AND RULES

Our awards are very simple to enter and are open to anyone involved in education. All the information below will help you prepare your entry.
  • The awards are open to all education institutions and suppliers worldwide (whether exhibiting at Gee Fair 2023 or not). Entries can be completed by institutions / individual themselves or through nominations. If you are entering on behalf of an institution / individual please make sure they are happy for you to do so.

 

  • Entry forms can also be completed by consultants working on behalf of entrants (for example by marketing or PR departments).

 

  • The Gee Fair Education Awards are independently judged by a panel of expert judges who will select the winners for each of the individual award categories.

 

  • The decision of the judges is final. The judges may place an entry in a more appropriate category if they think it is applicable and reserve the right to reject any entry which does not comply with the requirements of the Gee Fair Education Awards.

 

  • Judges are requested to declare an interest and remove themselves from the process if they are asked to judge an entry that poses a conflict of interest.

 

  • The organisers reserve the right to change deadline date and categories as appropriate.

 

  • We will respect as confidential any financial data submitted unless given express permission to use it, if there is any element of your entry that should not be made public then please clarify this on the entry.

 

  • By entered the Gee Fair Education Awards, companies are authorising the organisers to use the date and visuals submitted for the purposes of the awards presentation.

 

  • Where the entry was a collaborative effort, all major contributors should be specified within the entry.
  • Entry is free for teaching professionals / schools, however for supplier/distributor category a $50 fee applies.

 

  • All entrants must submit their entry online. The submission text should be no more than 6,000 characters in length, and must specifically address the key criteria set out for the relevant category.

 

  • In addition to the 6,000 character submission you may include up to three sets of additional supporting materials; each must be no more than two sides of A4 in length.

 

  • You will also need to upload your high-resolution logo on your nomination form, if you are a company or school, or if you are an individual a high-resolution photograph headshot as this will also be used if shortlisted for marketing materials during the awards ceremony.

 

  • If you wish to include a video as supporting evidence you will need to supply a web link to where the video is hosted.

 

  • If you wish to include tables please upload these as part of your supporting materials rather than including them within your submission text.

 

  • You can enter as many categories as you wish, but you must complete a separate submission for each.

 

  • If your entry relates to an initiative or project carried out in collaboration with other institutions, please bear in mind that the submission should come from the lead institution, and any shortlisting will be in the name of that institution. We will try to mention partner institutions at the awards ceremony where appropriate.

 

  • If the entry is not submitted by the legal owner of the product then the submitter must have permission to submit the product on behalf of the manufacturer.

PREPARING YOUR ENTRY

When preparing your submission text (reasons for entering), please review the award criteria carefully and keep any specific requirements that the judges will be looking for in mind.

  • Ensure that your submission contains sufficient robust information. Please include relevant facts and figures where possible. Some categories may ask you to include details of a particular initiative or initiatives; please think carefully about these and select those that best promote your expertise.
  • Please note that for continuity purposes we will use the institution name throughout the process in our publicity, although if you are shortlisted then a reference will be made on the night to a specific department or project if this is listed in the nominee field of your submission form.

SUPPORTING MATERIALS

You may back up your nomination by attaching supporting materials. These can include: photographs, documents containing statistics, testimonials, supporting research, brochures, case studies, evaluation or inspection reports, press cuttings and promotional material. Please highlight any sections you believe are particularly relevant. If you wish to submit a video as supporting evidence you will need to supply the URL where the video is hosted in the relevant box. You will also need to upload your on the nomination form your high-resolution logo if you are a company or school, or if you are an individual a high-resolution photograph headshot as this will also be used if shortlisted for marketing materials during the awards ceremony.

Please note that there is a nominal fee of $50 to enter the Gee Fair Education Awards for Suppliers and/or Distributors. Award categories for Teachers, Educational Professionals and Schools are free of charge to enter. Please click on the sections below for further details of the categories and criteria for entry.

AWARDS FOR SUPPLIERS
AND/OR DISTRIBUTORS

This award will be presented to suppliers and/or distributors that supply education establishments (either directly or indirectly) with high-quality, safe products appropriate to every day teaching and learning needs. To be considered for this award the supplier/company should have been trading for less than 3 years.

  • How the product or service they offer meets the needs of schools today
  • How they demonstrate outstanding customer-care and an exceptional standard of service to education
  • Provide testimonials or case studies from schools and colleges illustrating the impact of the product or service on learning and the work of the teacher in the classroom
  • Should include relevant marketing material to prove their case

This award will be given to a product or service that demonstrates clearly that it is new, original and ahead of current thinking.

  • To be eligible the product or service must have been launched between March 2019 – March 2022
  • The product or service must demonstrate innovation at the highest level, with a way of doing something differently or more effectively
  • The product or service can demonstrate solutions that tackle issues brought forth by the pandemic and addresses distance/hybrid learning.
  • The product or service should be sustainable and affordable
  • Should include relevant marketing material and case studies to prove that the product or service is innovative, unique and finds a solution to previous or existing challenges

This award will be given to a product or service that demonstrates clearly that it is new, original and ahead of current thinking.

  • To be eligible the product or service must have been launched between March 2019 – March 2022
  • The product or service must demonstrate innovation at the highest level, with a way of doing something differently or more effectively
  • The product or service can include (but not necessarily a requirement) solutions that tackle issues brought forth by the pandemic.
  • The product or service should be sustainable and affordable
  • Should include relevant marketing material and case studies to prove that the product or service is innovative, unique and finds a solution to previous or existing challenges

This award will be presented to companies that demonstrate and implement outstanding Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives pertaining to education that enhances the quality of education in their respective communities.

  • How the programme/initiative promotes education through skills training of students, community and other stakeholders
  • These initiatives can address: access to quality education; development of higher level of skills and capabilities; education; illiteracy; people of determination inclusion in education; development/improvement of educational facilities and technologies; promotion of teacher-training; promotion of academic learning through partnerships and the response to the challenges brought forth by the pandemic. 
  • Provide testimonials or case studies from schools, colleges and/or other institutions illustrating the impact of the CSR programme in the classroom and community as a whole

AWARDS FOR TEACHERS, SCHOOLS AND EDUCATIONAL PROFESSIONALS

This prestigious award will be presented to an individual working in the education sector who’s work deserves to be honoured for their contribution to education above and beyond their own academic interests.

This award is given to an individual nominated by a separate independent panel of judges who are working within the education sector globally. They will look at the special nature of this person’s contribution to education and why this contribution is above others. This award will recognise and reward a digital learning initiative in the classroom that demonstrates an innovative, strategic and far-reaching use of digital education in support of the goals of that institution. This could include but not necessarily be limited to the initiatives undetaken to promote distance/hybrid learning and other responses brought forth by the pandemic.

  • Include evidence of the contribution of the individuals involved, how they gained support within their institutions, overcame challenges and brought about real change with a significant impact
  • Describe the background to and context of your entry
  • Outline the form the initiative takes, how it works and why it is innovative and effective
  • Detail how the individuals involved contributed to the success of the initiative
  • Explain how you built awareness of what you were doing

This award will recognise and reward a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) initiative in the classroom that demonstrates an innovative, strategic and far-reaching use of STEAM in support of the goals of that institution.

  • Include evidence of the contribution of the individuals involved, how they gained support within their institutions, overcame challenges and brought about real change with a significant impact
  • Describe the background to and context of your entry
  • Outline the form the initiative takes, how it works and why it is innovative and effective
  • Detail how the individuals involved contributed to the success of the initiative
  • Explain how you built awareness of what you were doing

This award seeks to recognise and reward those institutions or individuals that can demonstrate a positive impact either within their school or community of their sustainable initiatives either by increasing environmental awareness or by positively contributing to a more sustainable/environmental approach.

  • Describe the background to and context of your initiative
  • Detail the nature of your work. Spell out your objectives and achievements to date
  • How does your contribution differ from standard practice?
  • How did you make a change? – describe how you put the initiative in action
  • If relevant, how does this work fit within your institution’s overall corporate social responsibility strategy?

This award will be presented to an educational establishment or individual who can demonstrate real value to the community it/they serve through the most imaginative attempt to aid the wider community socially, culturally or economically.

  • Describe the background to and context of your initiative
  • Explain the nature of the work, and the challenges involved
  • How the establishment has created and sustained partnerships with local businesses
  • A supportive and inclusive approach to both parents and the wider community
  • Provide evidence of demonstrable progress or success. Show how the project has made a difference to the target community
  • Outline how you as an individual or staff/students contributed to the success of the project
  • Testimonials of those that have been positively affected by your initiatives should be included as supporting evidence

Presented to a member of the teaching profession or an educational professional working in schools or colleges or other educational establishments, nominated by themselves or their peers for outstanding innovation or creativity in teaching. This could include but not necessarily be limited to the initiatives undetaken to promote distance/hybrid learning and other responses brought forth by the pandemic.

  • Illustrate how this person’s imagination and passion have transformed a course/class and inspired students
  • Explain the nature of your excellence or innovation. Have you launched new initiatives? Set up new courses? What were the challenges?
  • How it is novel and innovative?
  • Respect of pupils has been gained – student testimonials will be welcomed
  • What were the results? Provide evidence of demonstrable progress or success

This award seeks to recognise and reward those institutions or individuals that can demonstrate a positive impact either within their school or community of their inclusion and wellbeing initiatives either by increasing the physical, mental, and/or social wellbeing of their students and/or staff or by positively contributing to a more inclusive approach in education.

  • Describe the background to and context of your initiative
  • Detail the nature of your work. Spell out your objectives and achievements to date
  • How does your contribution differ from standard practice?
  • How did you make a change? – describe how you put the initiative in action
  • If relevant, how does this work fit within your institution’s overall corporate social responsibility strategy?

Presented to a member of the teaching profession or an educational professional working in schools or colleges or other educational establishments, nominated by themselves or their peers for outstanding contribution to education above and beyond their day to day job role.

  • Nominations should include a detailed statement about how this person’s contribution to education has gone the extra mile 
  • Supporting evidence should highlight why this person’s contribution to education had gone above and beyond their day to day job role
  • Explain why is this person an unsung hero, can include testimonials from colleagues, pupils
